Chiara Lordi is 22 years old and originally from Italy but has lived her whole life in Scotland. She started playing the piano at the age of 6 with private tutor and from the age of 12 to 18 she was a student at the City of Edinburgh Music School. Since 2020 Chiara has been studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) with Helen Krizos in Manchester.

A first prize winner of the James Waterhouse Piano Competition, Chiara had the opportunity to play at Steinway Hall in London. In 2015, she performed as a soloist in the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, as part of the annual Christmas Concert. She also had the opportunity to perform multiple times as a soloist in the Queens Hall in Edinburgh. Since 2021, she has given recitals across the UK, most recently as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; playing at St Giles Cathedral, St Mary’s Cathedral and at Morningside Parish Church. She has also given recitals in Italy, including Brescia, Perugia, and Cassino. Last year she performed a solo recital at C. Bechstein Centre in Manchester and was also invited to perform the Grieg Concerto with the RNCM Orchestra at the conservatoire. During the summer of 2023 she performed part of the Grieg Concerto in Perugia, directed by Marius Stravinsky as part of Music Fest Perugia and once again in Brescia, after winning the concerto class at the Talent Summer Course Festival. In 2023 she performed a recital at the prestigious concert venue, Teatro Manzoni in Cassino, Italy.

In March 2024, she was a semi-finalist in the BBC Young Classical Musician of the Year in Glasgow and in May 2024 she was a finalist in the Mark Ray Recital Prize at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Chiara started singing lessons at the age of 12 at the City of Edinburgh Music school where she developed her love for singing and writing her own songs. Since she was younger, she had the dream of being able to put together a concert that involved a repertoire of classical and pop music.

​

In fact in March 2024 and August 2024, Chiara held two concerts at Stockbridge Parish Church in Edinburgh in an evening where the classical and pop world met. On one occasion she raised money for a charity called Action for M.E. By combining the two genres and coming up with a mixed repertoire set list she was able to attract classical and pop listeners to the concert, helping her raise over £1,000 for Action for M.E. 

In August 2024, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, she held another concert where she once again combined the two genres and raised money towards her Masters Studies and because of the success of the first concert, she was able to sell out this time round.

Chiara has now completed her undergraduate degree at the RNCM graduating with a first-class honours degree and in September she will continue her studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
